Step into a breathtaking world crafted by animation director KAWAMORI Shoji, in which state-of-the-art audio and visual technology are skillfully combined. This is an entirely new visual experience, utilizing XR (cross-reality) technology, which was newly developed for this theater to merge reality and virtual space, and spatial sound technology. Wearing a head-mounted display (HMD), you will set out with 29 other audience members on an adventurous journey traversing the boundaries between reality and virtual space, the past and the future, time and space—an unprecedented exploration of life.

Within your body, an ocean flows.
Within your body, a river runs.
Within your body, the earth breathes.
What if the birds disappeared?
What if the insects vanished?
What if the sun ceased to shine?
Would life still go on...?

From the very beginning of this project, we explored many different approaches to express the theme of this theater: "Life is fusion and transformation!" How can we move beyond simply understanding life as a chain of combination and transformation and instead feel it as a physical experience? That question led us to an entirely new form of expression merging VR and XR. Spanning the microscopic and the macroscopic, transcending time and space, this experience blends the visible, tangible world with the world not visible to our naked eyes. We invite you to witness and feel this continuous transformation unfolding before your very eyes.

Experiencing the Super-Dimensional Theater will make you feel like you have truly become a primal human, part of a group that ended up gathering in a cave for shelter from the rain. At the EXPO site, you’ll likely be next to a stranger or someone of a different nationality, but this work rekindles the feeling of simply sharing a space, like sitting around a campfire.
In previous works by Mr. Kawamori, I experienced a surge of inexplicable emotions or sweating due to being overwhelmed by the huge volume of information. For this work, I’ve experimented and refined to make the experience of audience members wearing goggles more enriching. Focusing on the feeling of depth, speed, and the sensation of connecting to our bodies’ cells, I believe that I’ve created a work that evokes an ancient memory and an unmatched sense of pleasure.
